How going there ?

The donkey.

- On this internet site, Jacques Clouteau gives you many good advices, in french. One reason, in 1993, with Ferdinand they went from Le Puy en Velay to Santiago. Ferdinand is the ... donkey that Jacques prefers.

- A donkey is a very quiet and nice annimal. No biting, no backside booting, never afraid. It’s the best way to get in touch with people all along the way, young and old. So attached to his master, that he follows him as his shadow. Often, masters let the bridle on the neck.

The donkey does not walk very fast, he follows as he likes, stopping sometimes to graze, but never keeping his master out of sight and then going faster to catch him up.
A donkey is abble to carry, without pain, the luggages of two, three pilgrims, even camping equipment. He likes specially the grass all along the way, and love bushes. No mater if must sleep outside.
- But, just like horses, you’ll never stop in a town whith a donkey, there is no grass for him.
- Coming back home is not without problems. You must think about van or special lorry from Santiago.
- You must read “ advices to riders” to have informations about riding out of borders.
Donkeys renters exist on the way to Santiago.
